From a total edition of 300 copies, this is one of 65 deluxe copies half-bound in oasis leather, together with a separate portfolio containing 25 whole sheets of paper specimens. In 1986, the Oxford University Press moved its paper warehouse, selling to Whittington Press many of its remaining paper specimens from books printed at OUP from the turn of the twentieth century onward. Includes samples from Strathmore, Batchelor & Sons, Brittains, and Cartiere Miliani Fabriano Spa. John Bidwell, then-curator of Graphic Arts at Princeton University, discusses each paper type, the history of each mill, and the books printed on each paper. Bound in half-morocco and paper-covered boards, with silver titling on the spine. The accompanying portfolio is in quarter buckram and boards. Housed together in a clamshell box. Light rubbing to corners of box, else very fine.
