(Palm Desert, CA Politi, Leo 1964) Quarto. (65)pp. Presentation copy, with an inscription to William R. Parker, embellished with a watercolor design. Parker later passed it on to the prestigious Jonathan Club of Los Angeles, and this copy bears the club's bookplate. Illustrated on every other page with a color reproduction of a paintings, including photographs and several decorative initials. Upon Politi's return from art school in Milan, he came to know Los Angeles very well, inspiring him to create beautifully illustrated books about California. His illustrations have transformed themselves into positive commentaries on Bunker Hill's cultural explosion, urban development, and historical preservation. Full of charm and nostalgia, Politi's work is an attempt to preserve the grace and heritage of this rich neighborhood. Faint spotting to top edge of covers, else very fine in gray cloth, with titling in gilt.
