BERNERS, JULIANA.
TREATYSE OF FYSSHYNGE WYTH AN ANGLE.
New York Charles Scriber's Sons 1903 Small octavo. 86 pp. One of 160 copies. Contains numerous woodcut illustrations depicting anglers and their equipment. Also with an introduction by Grolier Club founding member William Loring Andrews. The text is from the Boke of St. Albans, which was originally printed in 1486 and famously reprinted ten years later by Wynkyn de Worde at Westmestre. The type in this edition was specially cast to resemble the Old English characters used by de Worde, and his printer's device is reproduced at the conclusion of the text. Beautifully printed on handmade paper, initials and sentence markers in red, text in black. Bound in full limp vellum, with gilt lettering and gilt armorial device of the town of St. Albans to front cover. Fine, with cloth tie straps to front edges. T.e.g.
