SALINGER, J.D.

The Catcher in the Rye.

Boston Little, Brown 1951 First edition. Still frequently challenged and sometimes outright censored for its treatment of sexuality and its use of profanity, Catcher in the Rye also remains one of the most widely read novels in the English language. Fifty years after it was first published, approximately 250,000 copies of the book were sold; in all, more than 60 million copies have been sold. Catcher in the Rye has never been made into a movie. Reportedly, Salinger would approve of a film version of the book, but feels that Holden wouldn't. A fine copy of the author's first book, in black cloth and first issue dustwrapper, which has a closed tear to the upper front panel and a few nicks to the spine ends.
