London Tradesmen's Cards.

London (Curwen Press) 1925 Small quarto. 110pp., + 101ff. plates. One of 100 deluxe copies in a special binding. Contains more than 100 illustrations of tradesmen's cards, advertising enterprises ranging from hatters and chandlers (candlemakers) to peruquiers (wig-makers) and undertakers. Historical background and analysis is provided, examining the architecture, costumes, and heraldry depicted on these often elaborately-decorated cards. Printed at the Curwen Press. Corners lightly bumped, and edges and vellum show some slight soiling, else fine in vellum-backed blue cloth boards with the title gilt-stamped on the spine. (Ephemera Reference).
