Printed and illustrated with historiated initials by Roswitha Quadflieg. Grimm's tale is told in English, Dutch, and three different German versions, each in a different typeface.The song sung in the story is given in may languages, from many folk traditions. The large initials by Quadflieg depict characters or animals within the tale and are wood engraved in three colors. Few minute scuffs to spine head, else a fine copy in maroon boards with an embossed label and slipcase. A handsome book from what many consider to be the most important modern German private press.
