Oxford Oxford University Press 1899 Octavo. xv pp., 10 ff. With ten examples of calligraphic alphabets and lettering. An instructional handwriting book for school children. "It is certainly desirable that there should be more good models for slow writing, as there is abundant occasion for its use. . . ," the author writes in her preface. In the same preface, she excuses the poor quality of some of the letters in the examples, variously blaming the engraver, the paper she wrote on, and the process of photolithography. Mostly, however, the examples are "very much what I intended." Bound in printed boards, backed in cloth. Boards toned, front cover rubbed along small portion of fore-edge, small red ink stains to front board, endleaves significantly toned. A good copy.
