Mockba Izdatelstvo Misl 1966 Octavo. 247 pp. First Russian edition. Illustrated with numerous woodcuts by Rockwell Kent, who gives an account of his voyage with a friend. Presentation copy, inscribed to Kent bibliographer Dan Burne-Jones "from Sally and Rockwell ... in belated commemoration" of Jones's birthday. The inscription is dated August 16, 1966. The publication of this edition coincided with an era that witnessed Kent's growing popularity in the Soviet Union, to which he donated hundreds of paintings and drawings in 1960, and his receiving the Lenin Peace Prize in 1967. Bound in gray boards, dramatically illustrated with a Kent woodcut of a small sailboat on a rough sea. Endpapers illustrated with maps. Very fine.
