Los Angeles The Ward Ritchie Press (1951) Square 12mo. 255 pp. First edition. Signed by the illustrator, Laurence Hyde. A novel told in wood engravings, printed from the original wood blocks. With an Introduction by Rockwell Kent and a brief review of "block books and stories in woodcuts" subsequent to the novel. Reminiscent of Lynd Ward's popular woodcut novels of the early Thirties. In black boards backed in red cloth lettered in gilt, and with a woodcut illustration printed in red on the front cover. Small dent to top edge of front cover, slight wear to cloth at spine ends, else fine.
