Paris Chez Jubert Mtre. Doreur 1792 24mo. (44)ff. In a richly embroidered binding, this almanac is illustrated with thirteen plates of bright hand-colored engravings. In addition to the usual contents of an almanac, such as a calendar and phases of the moon, this near-miniature tome contains tales of love told through rhyming verses. In one, a group of scholars travel to the island of Cithère in order to study and put an end to the distracting silliness of love, and another warns that love is nothing but a game. Also included is an acrostic poem based on the name "Sophie." A lovely white satin embroidered binding with floral motifs in gold thread with sequins and metal plaquettes. Just the lightest of age wear, else very fine with lovely copper pastepaper endleaves featuring a floral pattern.
