New York/Chicago John W. Masury & Son c. 1904 Oblong quarto. 8 ff. comprising title page and fifteen pages featuring a chromolithographed relief image of an early open touring car sporting different chassis colors combined with varying colors of pinstriping. John W. Masury was a successful paint manufacturer who patented several innovations, including the lip closure on metal paint containers. This manufacturer's catalogue is intriguing in that it comes from the nascent period of automobile history and is perhaps one of the earliest records of customization. Original rivet-bound cloth backed boards show some edgewear, gilt title on upper cover a bit rubbed, else a very good copy. (AUTOMOTIVE).
