WORLD WAR ONE: YANK TALK: TRENCH & BILLET HUMOR

YANK TALK: A REVIEW OF A.E.F. HUMOR- TRENCH AND BILLET

WORLD WAR ONE: "YANK TALK"- TRENCH HUMOR MAGAZINES. AMERICAN EXPEDITIONARY FORCES. "YANK TALK" and the sequel "MORE YANK TALK." Printed in Paris during the First World War, these two fragile magazines are a compilation of excerpts from regimental and unit publications, known as trench or camp papers. The subtitle reads "A Review Of A.E.F. Humor- Trench and Billet." According to the foreword, several score of these types of publications appeared in France during the war. These publications were naturally ephemeral in nature and oft-times abruptly ceased to exist. Text, cartoons and advertisements- printed on very fragile, poor quality paper. First volume is good (small piece missing from upper corner of rear cover, few tears, partial ink stamp on front cover); Second volume has a small sketch on the cover and "Hank" written in ink, several small nicks or tears). Scarce!
