Small quarto: red cloth, stamped in gilt. First Edition. Interesting inscription on the front endpaper but not in Pierce's handwriting: "Given to Emilie Baker for writing a composition on `Memorial Day.' Given by the captain of the Spanish- American war, Frederick E. Pierce." Also signed by "Emilie Baker" at the top of the page. Also with an inscription on the rear endpaper by Emilie (apparently in later years): "Given to me by Captain Frederick E. Pierce, a Spanish-American war captain. Presented on May 30, 1932." Owner Emilie S. Baker." Very Good (moderate soil covers, neat tape repair to front hinge).
