Orig. embossed green cloth, gilt title & decoration, unfaded. An ex lib. set, with one faint binding mark, blind stamp on one title, call numbers on half-title, waterstain bottom corner one vol. Top of spine of Vol. 1 chipped, lt. general foxing, new front end papers. (Hill p. 57. 1st edition) Selected from Coggeshall's manuscript journal of eighty voyages. Not recorded in Spence though he rounded Cape Horn and travelled Antarctic waters on a number of occasions. An American sea captain veteran of 26 years sailing, privateered during the War of 1812. Most voyages made to South America.
