Day & Hague, Lith.rs to the Queen. Published Oct.r 21st 1845 by Messrs. Fores, 41 Piccadilly, corner of Sackville Street, London. Tinted lithograph with beautiful hand color. Fine lithograph of the sloop Brigattin running up channel 1845. 15 3/4" x 11" printed area. A fine depiction of a sailing ship. Sir Henry Keppel's career in the Royal Navy included several tours to South East Asia & China for service against the Malay pirates, 1st in command of the H.M.S. Dido and later of the H.M.S. Maeander. The story of his two commands was told by himself in two publications, "The Expedition to Borneo of H.M.S. Dido for the Suppression of Piracy" (1846), and in "A Visit to the Indian Archipelago in H.M.S. Maeander (1853).
