UNIVERSAL DAMNATION AND SALVATION, clearly proved by the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament, to which is added a few Preliminary Observations.
Boston: T. Bedlington, 1826 12mo 100 pp. Contemporary paper boards with paper label on top cover. Paper missing from head and foot of spine, some minor foxing to prelims and endpapers and paper label but a remarkably good, sound copy. Purports to be two sermons by an Episcop alian clergyman found in MS in the belongings of a member of the First Church of Universalists of Boston who felt them worthy of publication. "Specially recommended to the perusal of those who, like the 'Noble Bereans' exmine for themselves." T h e Bereans were a sect, founded by John Barclay ca 1770 whose principle unorthodox assertion was that faith was an intellectual act, not merely a passive state and was based on a diligent study of the scriptures. Their name was taken from ACTS xv ii , 10&11 describing the particularly studious people of Berea.
