NY Reynal & Co. 1959, 1st US Ed. Very Good Hard Cover Very Good Hardcover in complete dj. Pictorialboards. 153 pp. 77 illustrations in b/w and 61 in full colour, many tipped in. Contains lithographs by Braque, Matisse, Henri Laurens, Giacometti, Andre Masson, Fernand Leger, Bores, Gromaire, and Chagall. Pictorial boards designed by Braque. Head of spine nicked, with small faint stain at foot; some light soiling to boards, not affecting Braque design; interior otherwise bright and clean (especially the colourplates & colour lithos) with only some faint browning to prelims and rear matter; minor shelf-soiling. Front dj panel has a couple of long closed tears and tear-creases, externally mended with tape, and a couple of very minor chips. Originally published as Nos. 27 & 28 of VERVE, this volume retains the original French text with English translation in front pocket. Published in an edition of 1000. Rare, and even rarer in dj.
