New York 1851 Flowery autographed letter signed to sculptor Hiram Powers, asking that he accept thevisit of two of Bryant's friends. 1 page, 4" x 6". New York, July 14, 1851. unbound very good "The Revd. Dr. Joseph Alden of Williams College has desired of me a letter to you, as one of the men of genius whose productions illustrate the country of our common birth. He goes to Europe for the benefit of Mrs. Alden's health which I hope she will recover in the genial climate of the country in which you are a sojourner. They are among the excellent of the earth, and I cheerfully commend them to your kindness." Handsomely framed in gray, white, and black with beaded frame, together with a fine engraved portrait.
