MOROT, Nicholas Aime.

French painter.Autograph Letter in French signed "N. Morot," to an unknown friend, recounting his overnight journey by horse to Lille. In the letter is the artist's ink sketch of himself sleeping. 3 pages, small 8vo (small rusted paper-clip stain) ca. 1830.

His horse is with him on the same wagon and he hardly can sleep with all the wind and rain. In addition to the weather, the wagon itself is very noisy. The drawing represents Morot trying to get some sleep on the wagon floor. Finally having arrived in Lille, he has started a portrait.
