Historic collection of 8 x10 black-and-white photos of all the presidents of the U.N. General Assembly from its creation in 1946 up to 1979.

1946 Most have clipped signatures pasted on; some are unsigned. A new president is elected every year, so some 34 diplomats from 34 different nations are included, such as 1st president Paul-Henri Spaak (1899-1972), also premier of Belgium and later secretary-general of NATO; 2nd president Oswaldo Aranha (1894-1960), also Brazilian foreign minister; 3rd president H.V. Evatt (1894-1965), also Australian attorney general; and so forth. Also included are a photo of 2nd U.N. secretary-general Dag Hammarskjold (1905-1961) with clipped signature; and a T.L.S. from noted guru Sri Chinmoy as spiritual director of the U.N. Meditation Group, to the widow of 3rd secretary-general U Thant (1904-1974) on the occasion of his death. Total 47 items. New York, 1946-79.
