Excellent free-franked autographed letter signed in full by the 21st U.S. Secretary of the Treasury, writing to President Andrew Jackson with a request for a member of the Ferguson commission. 4 pages with 8-line unsigned annotation by Jackson recommending Guthrie's request on verso. Slight residue from wax seal. 8" x 9 1/2". Louisville, July 9, 1834.
