1813 Fine partially printed stock receipt - the bottom part only, signed in full by the Swiss-born financial genius and Secretary of the Treasury under Jefferson and Madison who became the chief negotiator of the Peace treaty with Britain after the War of 1812. This Louisiana 6% stock receipt for $400 was signed by Gallatin's at the height of his political activities. Also signed by U.S. Secretary of State and later Ambassador to Britain and France, Richard Rush, who was then Comptroller of the Treasury. Upper portion of the certificate has been clipped. 7 3/4" x 5 1/4". n.p. March 18, 1813. unbound very good
