London and The Hague 1770 [but 1775-76] 8vo. Somewhat later 1/4 calf over marbled boards, tooled ingilt and black on the spine. Extremities lightly bumped and rubbed, A2 torn with some loss, preliminary and final blanks removed by binder, excepting these flaws, the copy is quite good. Second edition of this work on the regualtion of prostitution, a suggestion said to be carried out by Emperor Joseph II. This is a pirate edition probably printed in paris. This piece is a good example of Restif’s apparent belief that his opinions on any subject were worthy of publication.
