Chillicothe, Ohio: The Mountain House Press 1950 4to. Colored frontispiece, 127 facsimiles, 43 pictorial paper labels, etc. Folio, half cloth, boards, in a half morocco case. A fine copy. Limited to 210 copies signed by the author. The facsimiles of watermarked samples in the author’s collection, were hand-made from specially prepared moulds. There are accounts of paper mills in America starting with Pennsylvania in 1691, New jersey 1726, Massachussetts 1728, Maine 1731, Virginia 1744, Rhode Island 1766, Connecticut 1766, New York 1768, Maryland 1776, North carolina 1777, down to 1811, six years before the papermaking machine.
