Racing scene: watercolor heightened with gum arabic
English, ca. 1870 A very pleasing image, possibly a recreation of an actual scene, as it is highly probable that the racing silks can be identified with their English owners (RACING) Image 8-1/2 x 14 inches, matted in a Hogarth frame, 16 x 21 inches overall. A lively study of four horses being jockeyed into position for a race, the starter with his flag in the background.
