[Dublin?, c. 1910-20's] A key motif in the Clarke ouevre--a graceful, slender-fingered hand, here resting poised on the edge of a table. It's conceivable that Clarke modeled this study with his own hand, as Bowe notes the artist's "long tapering fingers" (Bowe, HARRY CLAKRE, p. 23). 9 x 8-1/2 in. Charcoal on laid paper. Matted and glazed in black wooden frame, a few spots of foxing, faint creasing and wrinkling else fine. Provenance: Clarke estate
