Vienna: C.F. Beck, 1824. First edition and very rare. In this work, Waldauf (b. 1779), a member of a noble Tyrolean family and a high government official in Vienna, considers the origins of sedimentary strata. He describes the deformations which occur and the origin and occurrence of many minerals. The plates are very finely engraved and the colored plate vividly depicts 56 kinds of strata deformation. Fine and attractive copy. Stamp on title of the “Gr. E. Czernin’sche Bibliothek.” ❧ Poggendorff, II, 1245.
