Gotha: Becker, 1800-13. A complete set of this important technical journal, issued monthly, which reported the latest scientific news in the fields of astronomy, cartography, discovery, geography, surveying, etc. This journal was edited by Zach (1754-1832), who came from a noble and distinguished family in Hungary and Czechoslovakia. In 1786 he was appointed head of the observatory which Duke Ernst II of Saxe-Coburg erected near Gotha. Zach was in correspondence with every important astronomer and geographer of the time and the list of contributors to this journal include Olbers, William Herschel, Gauss, Lagrange, Laplace, von Lindenau, Humboldt, and many others.
