Printed in black and red in Arrighi-Vicentino and Centaur types. A fine copy of this exquisite book, of which Mardersteig writes: "To complement Dante's Vita Nuova (No. 14) an edition of poems of his friend and master Guido Cavalcanti, one of the most significant exponents of the dolce stil nuovo, was essential. For this edition I used the delicate Cancellaresca by Ludovico Vicentino degli Arrighi, originally cut about 1524 by the goldsmith Lautizio Perugino. The book gains from Gianfranco Contini's penetrating and informative essay, in which he throws new light on the tangled relationship between Cavalcanti and Dante."Schmoller 142. A really lovely book.
