First edition of one of the earliest geological surveys of Moravia. In 1821, Reichenbach (1788-1869), "in partnership with Count Hugo zu Salm of Vienna, set up a group of metallurgical factories at Blansko in Moravia. They prospered and enabled him to purchase several estates, as well as interests in steelworks and blast furnaces at Terniz, Lower Austria, and Gaya, Moravia."­D.S.B., XI, p. 359­(& see the rest of the article about this fascinating and difficult man). Of the three plates, the first is a finely hand-colored geological map of the area and the second, also hand-colored, depicts geological cross-sections. Fine copy and rare.
