4 p.l., 465, [3] pp. 8vo, cont. half-vellum & speckled boards (some foxing), uncut. Vienna: A. Bernard, 1777. First edition of this thorough work on tetanus, which provides a comprehensive history of this disease, its symptoms, diagnoses, and treatments (including many of a pharmacological nature). Trnka (1739-91), a Bohemian physician of great learning, was professor of anatomy at the University of Tyrnau. He wrote on a number of diseases and was highly regarded for his observations, erudition, and industry. Hirsch considered Trnka to be an authority of the first rank during his time.
