ZIPPE, Franz Xavier Maximillian.

Five folding engraved plates. 1 p.l., 3-53 pp. 8vo, modern boards (several library stamps & ownership inscriptions on title). Prague: G. Haase Sons, 1830. First separate edition and rare; originally published in the Königliche-Böhmischen Gesellschaft der Wissenschaften. Zippe (1791-1863), was professor of chemistry at the Technical Institute of Prague and director of the newly established mineralogical cabinet of that city. In 1850 he was appointed professor of mineralogy at the University of Vienna. The fine plates depict crystal structures. Very good copy with the bookplate of Franz, Count of Thun-Hohenstein Tetschen.
