Each one has an excellent description, giving the facts and figures for piers and foundations as well as superstructures, with an historical account of the project. Dredge (1840-96), began his career as a civil engineer, working first in the office of D.K. Clark and then with John Fowler. He later became editor and proprietor (with W.H.
