2 p.l., 430 pp. 8vo, cont. sheep-backed marbled boards (lower joint cracked but strong, some foxing), flat spine gilt. Paris: Ébrard, n.d. [but ca. 1837]. The lectures on the history of chemistry given at the Collège de France in 1836 by the Dumas (1800-84), one of the foremost chemists of the 19th century. The present edition, a re-issue of the first edition with a new title-page, is not listed by the usual bibliographers except Caillet 3359 who calls it an "ouvrage curieux." Very good copy.
