London: L. Booth, 1864. 8vo., pp. viii, 336, original gilt and blind stamped cloth, lightly rubbed,head & tail of spine slightly frayed, upper & lower hinges started though tight, interior fine. Fictionalized tales of sporting adventures in many parts of the world based u pon the author's travels with his regiment. Accompanied, as befits a Fellow of the Linnean Society, by abundant scholarly footnotes on the flora and fauna and appropriate quotations from such author's as Moody, Hardy's 'Sporting Adventures', Gosse' s 'Canadian Naturalist', etc. About two-thirds of the book is devoted to Canada, principally the Thousand Islands region. Dedicated to Walter Shanley [sic], the tempestuous civil engineer and politician. Bulger began his military career in the Roy al Canadian Rifle Regiment in 1847 and later transferred to the 10th North Lincolnshire Regiment. Not in TPL.
