Covers worn with light chipping to the head & tail of spine, tiny chip on spine at the gilt title (15 mm x 5 mm), slight water stain on preliminary pages, else clean, crisp copy. "The most thoroughly distinctive Canadian poem we possess." - Morgan. The first important publication by the customs collector and editor of the`Niagara Mail', better known for his novel "The Golden Dog" (New York/Montreal, 1877).
