Covers worn and scuffed, folds of one map strengthene d, else maps and text clean and crisp The pencilled annotations, unfortunately shaved in places, are almost certainly by Sir James Kempt, lieutenant-governor of Nova Scotia, 1820-28, administrator of Lower-Canada, 1828-30. M'Gregor, 1797-1857, industrious gatherer of facts and statistics expanded his `Historical and descriptive sketches,' of 1828 to include the Canadas and updated information on agriculture, the timber trade and fisheries.
