London: Ward, Lock, & Tyler, circa 1865. 8vo., pp. [vi], 84, colour frontis., richly illus. in full-colour, blank leaves interleaved, decorations by Albert Warren and type in sepia, colour illustrations printed by Edmund Evans, preface by Joseph Cundall who may also have been its true publ isher, brown bevelled cloth, richly gilt front cover, blind stamped back and plain spine, a.e.g. Binder's ticket of Broadbere, Southampton. A previous owner has solved the gutta percha binding problem by effectively, if somewhat inelegantly, sewin g the sheets. Covers slightly scuffed and soiled, endpapers split at hinges, lightly foxed throughout, overall very good with brilliantly coloured illustrations. A variant edition of 1860 exists.
