(including a 2 page introduction by Hezekiah Butterworth). The first edition of this classic printed in America was published by Jordan Marsh in 1898. This edition features 4 color plates by RENE QUENTIN that did not appear in the 1898 edition (they are dated 1899) and this edition is the first edition with these illustrations, and more importantly according to Wunderlich, this is the first known Pinocchio with colorplates in the U.S. (p.49 1899?a). Quite scarce. (Also illustrated with b&w chapter head and tailpieces.
