Printed by Bradbury and Evans, June 22, 1839 Whitefriars, London Magazine issue Number 386. 12-1/2 x 9 inches; 8 pages, printed in three columns. Top edge a little rough, and light stain in the bottom corner margin. The lengthy article, "Golfing, the Cock of the Green," pp173-4, reprints the text that accompanied John Kay's "Series of Original Portraits & Caricature Etchings." (see Murdoch, The Library of Golf,: p 13.) This text is considered one of the most complete recitals of golf history up to this time. The Journal also includes articles on "The Irish Peasantry," Scottish cattle, "The Question of Iron or Wood Steamers," &c.
