Occident Publishing Company Chicago 1882 1st (only ?) edition in English. 2 vols in 1, as issued. 8vo. (approx. 8 x 5-1/2 inches). Original black cloth stamped in blind with gold lettering on spine. Very slight wear, otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated by D. Eduard Loewenthal. Translated from the seventh German edition. Double frontispiece depicting Loewenthal's concept of celestial rotation. Includes Chapter III "In which Darwin's Theory of Evolution is totally set aside," and Chapter IV "That Sacramentum Attractionis. Sir Isaac Newton's Theory refuted from present philosophy and research..." The second work (an epitome) has its own title page. The NUC locates only the Newberry Library copy. The 2nd title had previous publication in 1874; NUC located the LC copy only. (Pseudo science?)
