Leonard Smithers London 1896 2 volumes. Quartos, approx 10.25 x 7.75 inches. Pictorial boards withcover illustrations by Aubrey Beardsley who also did the title pages & other interior illustrations. On vol 1 the covering of the spine is gone, inner joint beginning to open, lacks Christmas card as is often the case. On vol 2 the spine is soiled and chipped, the front inner joint is open. Both volumes are worn along the edges, have bumped corners and have some soiling & finger smudges. [The famous fin de siecle British monthly which failed after only eight issues. The editor had been profoundly influenced by the French decadents and carried over their outlook & approach in this publication. "The Savoy" was the leading edge of British/Irish litrerature and art. Authors include Shaw, Beerbohm, Dowson, Beardsley, Havelock Ellis, Yeats, Gosse, Verlaine, Image, et al. Illustrators include Beardsley, Shannon, Pennell, Rothenstein, Whistler, Beerbohm (two caricatures, including one of Beardsley), Sickert, et al.]
