Sir Joseph Banks Bart.
H. Colburn & Co., August 1st London, 1820. Engraving, 215 x 140 mm.; fine. An excellent copy of this engraved portrait of Banks after Thomas Phillips, published soon after the great man's death in 1820.
This portrait is another example of the popular reproductions of the most famous image of Banks in his later life, and like the Fry/Boys portrait noted above, was likely prepared as a souvenir of his passing.
