chez A. de Vresse, c. Paris, 1850. Oblong large octavo, handcoloured lithograph title and 30 handcoloured lithographs; a fine copy in original green cloth ornately gilt, some slight edge wear. A brilliantly illustrated version of the classic, and a very good example of the extent of derivations from Swift's original. This version from the mid-nineteenth century is one of the most beautiful and imaginative pictorial renderings of Swift's story. Edmond Morin, a well-known illustrator of the period, perfectly captures the miniscule Lilliputians, the giants of Brobdingang, the absent-minded inhabitants of the floating island of Laptua and noble horses of the utopian land of the Houyhnhnms. His drawings have a vigour and unerring perspective which makes this one of the most desirable of all juvenile editions of Gulliver.

All items are guaranteed as described. If an item is not as described, it is returnable within seven days of receipt, unless other arrangements are made. Full refunds are given only when items are received in the same condition in which they were sent.
New customers will need to send payment with their order. Customers known to us will be invoiced with payment due in thirty days, unless prior arrangements are made. Institutions will be billed to meet their requirements. All items listed are subject to prior sale.
