J. Walch, London, Ward, Hobart, 1879. Folio, full-page lithographic plates; a few leaves lightly spotted and marked, the title-page strengthened but a good copy in the original decorated cloth, all edges gilt. First edition and characteristic of her best illustrated work, this was Meredith's first major literary and artistic undertaking since 1860. The illustrations are based on pencil sketches and in the preface Meredith states 'The desire to render such honour as I might to the scenery of Tasmania, by the publication of a volume of landscape sketches...'. Unlike her natural history books, the illustrations are tinted only and include views of Hobart, Mount Wellington, Herne Bay and the Derwent Valley.

All items are guaranteed as described. If an item is not as described, it is returnable within seven days of receipt, unless other arrangements are made. Full refunds are given only when items are received in the same condition in which they were sent.
New customers will need to send payment with their order. Customers known to us will be invoiced with payment due in thirty days, unless prior arrangements are made. Institutions will be billed to meet their requirements. All items listed are subject to prior sale.
