SHELLEY, Percy Bysshe
Posthumous Poems.
John and Henry L. Hunt, London, 1824. Octavo; a fine copy in contemporary green polished calf, inner gilt dentelles, elaborately gilt spine, sympathetically restored. Scarce first edition. Following Shelley's death, his widow Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley collated and edited this collection of hitherto unpublished poems, fragments and translations (of Homer, Euripides, Goethe and others). The collection is prefaced by a moving account of her husband's life and work.
Mary experienced great difficulty in finding a publisher, but eventually the sale of 250 copies was guaranteed by Thomas Lovell Beddoes, Bryant Waller Proctor ("Barry Cornwall") and Thomas Forbes Kelsall.
As often, this copy is without the leaf of errata and list of previous works (pp. [xii-xiii]).

All items are guaranteed as described. If an item is not as described, it is returnable within seven days of receipt, unless other arrangements are made. Full refunds are given only when items are received in the same condition in which they were sent.
New customers will need to send payment with their order. Customers known to us will be invoiced with payment due in thirty days, unless prior arrangements are made. Institutions will be billed to meet their requirements. All items listed are subject to prior sale.

Prices of books do not include shipping, which will be charged at actual cost. Insurance will be charged at 1% of the total order unless you advise that you have your own insurance arrangments and that shipping is therefore at your risk.
