Charles Potter, Sydney, 1893. Octavo, three plates, colour folding map of Sydney, folding plan of the Sydney Observatory; original pebble-grain cloth, gilt vignette on upper board, cloth sightly discoloured with some edgewear. The fold-out lithographic map of Sydney locates the site of the Sydney Observatory, a detailed site map shows the plan of the building and grounds, and three full-page photographic plates show the building and its scientific instruments. H.C. Russell was the Government Astronomer from 1870, and was responsible for several of the Observatory's major astronomical programmes of the nineteenth century. He was also the first Sydney University graduate to be elected to the prestigious Royal Society in London. Unusually, he designed scientific instruments and did much to develop a local manufacturing industry.

All items are guaranteed as described. If an item is not as described, it is returnable within seven days of receipt, unless other arrangements are made. Full refunds are given only when items are received in the same condition in which they were sent.
