George Goulding London, 1789. Quarto, with 21 maps and plates (a number folding), with the half-title; tear to the first folding map and some inconsequent offsetting; a fine uncut copy with generous margins in the original boards, paper spine rubbed, spine lettered by hand; preserved in blue cloth bookform box. First edition: a remarkable copy in superb original condition.
Dixon's account of his voyage in the Queen Charlotte is dedicated to Joseph Banks, and is a companion to Portlock's account of the same voyage; both men had voyaged with Cook, Dixon as armourer of the Discovery, and Portlock would go on to sail with Bligh.
