ARAGO, Francois
Inauguration de la statue de Francois Arago a Perpignan.

Offprint by the Institut de France, from the publication commemorating the erection of the statue of François Arago in Perpignan, in southern France. This offprint includes two articles discussing Arago's scientific achievements.
Arago was born in the nearby village of Estagel, but attended school in Perpignan and became a hero of the region. The bronze statue was erected in 1879, fourteen years before he was thus commemorated in Paris, and survives to this day in the eponymous Place Arago in the centre of the town.
