London, Macmillan and Co. Ltd. 1896. First edition. Original dark blue cloth. 8vo. pp. x. 200. Colbeck 641.21. This novel was a sequel to "Marius the Epicurean," a philosophical romance. Pater had intended the work to be a trilogy but this was never completed. "Gaston de Latour" is set in sixteenth century France and some of it appeared in Macmillan's Magazine of 1888. Light water mark on front cover, otherwise a fine copy.
